THE CHALLENGE

When McGettigan’s first approached us, its management believed that the brand’s logo and identity had become old and outdated.

There was a pressing need for the brand to reinvent itself. It needed to fit into the present, but without compromising its age-old established brand identity. 

THE SOLUTION

In order to solve the delicate issue of modernisinig the brand while also retaining its established identity, we had to go back to the drawing board and reconsider everything from long-term strategy, positioning and current customers to brand perception, digital functionality and a rapidly changing generation who’s needs and habits were increasingly based on identity, values and emotions.

We worked through many variations of fonts, colours, styles and shamrocks to make sure that the logo became a contemporary interpretation of the old identity, without losing its unique personality or its beloved Irish roots.

THE IMPACT

McGettigan’s new logo was first rolled out at its main New York branch in the US. 

The old design was replaced by a new sleek aesthetic that helped into slide into the new digital era. 

Due to its immense success, we were subsequently asked to work on local campaigns including JLT, DWTC and Madinat Jumeirah. 

In the end, our final logo hit all the right spots for McGettigan’s by transforming its image as an old family-run Irish pub into one of modernity and fun.
